Course Description |

Introduction to the methodology of solving problems in electromagnetics with the Finite Element Method (FEM) and Finite Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) methods. Numerical solutions of problems governed by the Laplace equations, the laws of Gauss and Faraday in integral form with FEM in differential form in time domain with FDTD. Examples: three-phase connection, overhead line, transformer, DC-motor. Computer exercises in E/M fields I and II. Graphic representation of vectors and fields. Programming of analytic expressions of the electric and magnetic fields and their corresponding forces in free space, in dielectrics and in magnetic materials. |
