| Windings: Types, Insulation, Specifications. Synchronous Machines: Assembly, Rotor types. Generator: EMF equations, Synchronous reactance, Voltage regulation, Parallel operation, Influence of excitation and input torque variations, reactance in d-q reference frame, Operating characteristics, Loading, Dynamic behavior. Motor: Torque equations,- Operating modes, Load and excitation variation, Power flow, Starting methods, Dynamic behavior. Induction Motors: Assembly and manufacturing issues, Rotor types, Operating characteristics, Slip. Three Phase motors: Equivalent Circuit, Torque-Speed characteristics, Maximum torque point, Losses and efficiency, Tests, Double cage rotor, Startup – Speed regulation, Effects of voltage, load, slip and pole variations. Induction Generator, Dynamic behavior. Single Phase motors: Assembly, Starting considerations, winding based categories, Operation, Equivalent Circuit, Tests, Performance and efficiency.
