SHORT CV
Yannis L. Karnavas received the Diploma Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DECE), Democritus University of Thrace (DUTh), Xanthi, Hellas, in 1994 and 2002 respectively. From 1995 to 2004 he taught several engineering courses at the Technological Educational Institution of Kavala, while at the same time he was involved in electromechanical studies as a professional freelancer. From 2002 to 2004 he was a visiting Professor at DECE and DPME of DUTh. From 2004 to 2013, he was Assistant Professor and Director of both Electrical Machines & Electrical Installations Laboratories of Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Hellenic Mediterranean University, Heraklion, Crete, Greece. Since 2013 he is with the Electrical Machines Laboratory of the DECE, DUTh. He has participated in research projects either as scientifically responsible or research team member. He has also served as an Associate Editor and as an Editorial board member in various international scientific journals. His research interests include electrical machines design, analysis, modeling and optimization, controller design and application to electrical machines and artificial intelligence methods application to the above areas. Prof. Karnavas is a chartered electrical engineer as well as a member of Hellenic Technical Chamber. Also, he is an IEEE senior member and IEEE PES, IEEE IAS and IEEE IES member.
