Course Description

Basic elements of  Electrophysiology. Electrical properties of the neuron membrane. Nernst-Planck equation. Goldman equilibrium. Propagation of the neural pulse. Membrane as an electrical equivalent circuit. External electrical field effect on the membrane potential. Electrical activity of the heart. Einthoven canonical electrodes. Central bipolar model. Electrocardiogram measurement. Electrical properties of bioelectric tissues. Interaction mechanisms between electromagnetic radiation and biological systems. Diathermy. Electrical and magnetic activity of the brain. Electroencephalogram (EEG). The three concentric sphere model. Magnetoencephalogram (MEG). MEG recording device (SQUID). MEG advantages compared to EEG. Stochastic processing of biological signals with the help of time series analysis in the time and frequency domain.
