SHORT CV
George A. Kyriacou was born in Famagusta, Cyprus, on March 25, 1959. He received the Electrical Engineering Diploma and the Ph.D. degree, both with honors, from the Democritus University of Thrace, Xanthi, Greece, in 1984 and 1988, respectively. Since January 1990, he has been continuously with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace, where he is currently Professor and director of the Microwaves Laboratory. Professor Kyriacou is a senior member of IEEE since 2005 (member since 1990), representative of Greece in Commission A of URSI since 2000, member of the Electromagnetics Academy since 2000, member of the Technical Chamber of Greece since 1984 and the European Microwave Association (EuMA) since 2006. He is the author of 68 journal articles, 9 articles in online journals and 181 conference papers, one book and 3 book chapters. His main research interests include: microwave engineering, open waveguides and antennas in anisotropic media, microwave and high frequency tomography, applied electromagnetics, and biomedical engineering. He has over 30 years of continuous research and teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate level. In summary he is currently leading a strong research team. Organized and chaired a number of sessions in international conferences. In 1998 he has been for a 2 months sabbatical with the Electromagnetics Institute, the Technical University of Denmark. Moreover, he has been for one month in the company of Alenia Spazio in Rome where he dealt with satellite and printed antennas as well as he gained experience in the fabrication and measurement of MIC and MMIC . He was the Project leader of 9 research projects and participated another 17. He has supervised over 110 Diploma Thesis, 15 M.Sc. and 8 Ph.D. Thesis. Currently he is supervising 10 Diploma Thesis, 2 M.Sc. Thesis and 3 Ph.D. Theses. He is also in the Editorial Board of ΙΕΕΕ Transactions on Microwave Theory & Techniques (2005-now), ISRN Applied Mathematics and an Associate Editor of IET Microwaves Antennas & Propagation (2015-now). He has also served in the Technical Program Committee (TPC) of many international conferences.
