| I. GENERAL OVERVIEW OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS: Introduction to wired and wireless propagation, frequency bands, radio services, frequency allocations, world, European and national organizations and committees. II. PROPAGATION IN TRANSMISSION LINES AND WAVEGUIDES: TEM and higher-order modes, transmission line theory and propagation in high-frequency lines, the terminated lossless transmission line, special cases of lossless terminated lines, the Smith chart, ABCD parameters representations narrow and wide band matching and techniques, lossy transmission lines, propagation along two coupled lines, propagation of pulses in lines, basic elements of coaxial and twin lines, metallic and dielectric waveguides and integrated microwave lines. III. RADIOWAVE PROPAGATION – WIRELESS LINKS: Electromagnetic wave propagation, antennae, types of propagation and basic radio system parameters, ground wave propagation, propagation in the Ionosphere, Space wave propagation in the troposphere, tropospheric scatter wireless links, fading and variability of radiowaves, noise, wireless links, introduction in satellite, space and mobile communications. |
