| Scope of power system protection. Instrument transformers and relays. Protection principles: overcurrent, distance, differential, directional, pilot protection. Protection of power system elements. Protection against frequency, voltage and transient instability phenomena. Synchronized phasor measurements applications. Substation automation. Interconnection and networking of protection devices. Protocol IEC 61850. Smart communication and control systems in power substations. Software-based protection modelling and simulation: applications for transmission, distribution and generation systems (conventional and distributed). | ||
