Course Description

Load-frequency control in power systems: primary control, automatic generation control. Voltage control in power systems, automatic voltage regulators, secondary voltage regulation, reactive power compensation. Introduction to nonlinear systems stability. Power system stability: steady-state stability, transient stability, frequency stability, voltage stability. Effect of voltage control. Power system stabilizers. Countermeasures against instability phenomena. Software applications.
