Course Description

Solar Radiation, measuring instruments of solar radiation intensity, AM conditions. Related Solar-Earth locations, methods of determining the position of the sun in the sky, solar maps. Placement and orientation of photovoltaic systems, optimal tilt angle, solar windows, shading of photovoltaic systems. Optical phenomena, photovoltaic pn-junction, equivalent circuit and parametric analysis of (I-V) -characteristics , short circuit current. Photovoltaic cell in load conditions. Photovoltaic cell equivalent circuits, groups of n x m photovoltaic cells, photovoltaic collector. Photovoltaic collectors in load conditions. Protection and control of photovoltaic systems. Photovoltaic manufacturing technology. Special topics: photovoltaic heterojunction, light trapping inside the photovoltaic cell, high efficiency photovoltaic cells, concentration of solar radiation on the photovoltaic cell.
