Course Description

Introduction. Transmission lines and waveguides. Boundary conditions cut-off conditions. Rectangular, circular and coaxial waveguides. Propagating and evanescent modes. Resonators. Printed transmission lines: microstrips and striplines. Propagation in waveguides containing dielectric and magnetic materials-ferrites. Non-reciprocal devices and their applications. Analysis of microwave networks, scattering parameters: flow diagrams and applications. Microwave sources: Magnetron, Klystron, TWT, Gunn. Microwave transistors, PIN diodes and control components. Applications of microwaves.
