Basic elements of quantitative analysis, balance of mass and energy, solutions, pollutant decomposition, pollution absorption. Evolution of perceptions and institutions for the environment: from Smith to the Club of Ρώμης, the road to Kyoto. International environmental problems – international treaties for the environment and sustainable growth. Environment economics: cost balance and environmental repercussions, quality indices, pollution limits, carrier ecosystem capacity. Financial and Environmental Assessment of Technical Systems: financial viability of facilities, cost-benefit analyses, government interventions and subsidies. Environmental Cost Assessment. Pollution prevention, pollution licenses. Legal framework for environmental protection in Greece, environmental legislation and civil engineering projects. Environmental Impact Assessments of PM projects, current legislation in Greece and the European Union and problems in the implementation of legislation. Case studies in civil engineering projects: lake management, solid waste management, overflow of panoramic networks, bioclimatic building design |
