Course Description

Effects of current on human beings. Protection measures against electrocution in electrical installations. Overcurrent protection in low-voltage electrical installations (protection equipment, time-overcurrent curves, and coordination).  Protection of distribution transformers and motors. Determination of continuous (de-rated) loading, overloading, and short-circuit withstand capability of low-voltage and medium-voltage cables and overhead lines. Technical specifications for supply and protection of medium-voltage power substations and indoor electrical installations. Indicative lighting and supply study for a typical electrical installation. Low-frequency electric and magnetic fields, international safety standards.
