Course Description

Introduction: from electromagnetic theory to antennas. Antennas: Fields, radiation patterns, polarization, power, radiation intensity and radiation resistance. Directivity. Wire antennas: input power, efficiency and gain. Radiation patterns. Introduction to moment method. Input impedance. Basic antennas: isotropic, uniform, infinitesimal and sinusoidal antenna. Half-wavelength dipole. Antennas arrays. Reflector Antennas. Reference Antennas and evaluation. Reciprocity for antenna radiation patterns. Friis equation. Usual commercially available antennas for radio and tv broadcasting, telephony and satellite receiving. Practical techniques for installation, matching and measurements of antennas. Standards.
