Course Description

Introduction to the finite element method, domain decomposition, sparse matrix technology and algorithms, preconditioning, state-of-the-art iterative methods, fast elliptic solvers, multigrid methods, Splines, Numerical solution of Integral Equations. Monte-Carlo techniques for solving numerical problems. Parallel programming. Computational mathematics applications. Mathathematical – Computational Software and Algorithms, Software Libraries, Exercises, Project (implementation in Fortran, C, C++, Java, MATLAB, OpenMP, MPI, etc.)
