Curriculum
Graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (2000). PhD thesis in Mechanical Engineering from the same Department (2007). Title of PhD: “Development of an experimental – analytical procedure to determine the mechanical properties of semi – solid aluminum alloys at thixo temperatures”. Research Fellow of the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Manufacturing Engineering (EEDM) at the AUTH (2002-2011). Scientific Associate of the Fraunhofer PCCM (2008-2012).

Appointed as a Lecturer in design and industrial production employing CAD/CAM/CAE systems, in the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Democritus University of Thrace from January 2012. Participated in more than 8 research projects originating from European, national or direct industrial funding. Member of organizing and scientific committees for more than 22 national and international conferences. He has published 17 papers on scientific journals and 32 papers on peer reviewed conferences with more than 60 citations according to Scopus (h-index=4).

His research interests involve, among others, modeling of the geometry of cellular materials using advanced space partitioning algorithms and NURBS surfaces, study of the mechanical and thermal behavior of complex shape materials applying FEM simulation technics, evaluation of the mechanical response of materials and structures and the design of experimental devices utilizing state of the art technologies for material testing and characterization. Guest Editor of the "International Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering". Reviewer in several scientific journals in the field of material science, mechanics and automation (International Journal of Materials Engineering, Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Automation, International Journal of Mechanics and Applications).
